ok..as of right now i am using my computer to record and make beats and such..and i am going to be buying some more equipment ina couple days..but i had a question about the type of mixer i should buy..should i buy a digital or analog?..im going to be running an akai mpc200xl..with a evolution mk 249c midi keyboard ran throuhg a roland jv-1010...and i was wondering how many tracks should i get? should i hook up all the outs on the akai? and im going to be puttin the finishing touches on it in my pc... but i like to have faders and knobs when im mixing so should i just get a digital? or should i get an anaolg? is it possible to hook an analog to my comp?... somebody please help me out...oh and im doing hip hop by the way..and i have to record vocals also...

i didn't understand most of ur question........but you can use either an analog or digital mixer and then send it to your recording medium (i don't rememebr what that was). i would only get the digital mixer if you know that the converters in it are better than the converters on ur daw....... i don't know if i was any help

let me rephrase the question....

ok....akai mpc200xl and a roland jv1010 and a microphone is all im going to be recording........the final product is going to be put on my computer to be burned.....should i get a digital mixer or an analog?

hope that simplifies all that jabba i had posted last time...

Do you have the break out ( Multiple out ) exxpansion for the MP?

Mixer Question

Maybe it would help to ask one of the experts to explain the difference between digital and analog mixers (other than the obvious). I'm not an expert but I know it depends on your application.

1.How much are you willing to spend?
2. How many channels do you need?
3. Do you want or need to record with effects?

I'd invest in some quality pre-amps or direct boxes, and forgo the mixer all together. You don't mention if you're using any software for multitrack: if you're wishing to create a live mix with the vocals going at the same time to a single audio file....you're losing alot of flexibility.

If you'd like to go track by track from your outboard into the computer, then add vocals......you don't really need a mixer, and you can spend the money on some mic amps and a great soundcard, and mix inside your software.

But then again, all those knobs are sure fun to mess with- but most of our wallets don't support fun, just necessity.

im going to multitrack on my pc...but i have to mix with an external...i have a feel for the faders...not click and drag....and yes i have the 8 output w/ the akai....16 inputs total is what i need....should i get a sound card with 16 inputs or something?...price is open....nothing like 5000... but..ok..well nothing over 2500....hows that?
