hi everyone,
im new to this website and home recording although i have been trying for a while to set up my room for perfect vocal takes. so basically i need help now, i have been researching and reading online and in public libraries as how to set up the best room for vocals. i have a rode 1000 mic , dbx preamp and a m-audio firewire and all sound very good. i have bought 500 bucks worth of acoustic foam and i have like 8 thick mattresses in my room. now the problem is that like if i there are unwanted frequencies in my recordings, they do not tend to show in everything i sing but if i try to put extra feeling or try to put extra stress on my words . i know they originate from my mouth but they should last that long. i think they revebrate in my room. i have tried bass cut off switch , but i dont have any bass traps in my room. are they necessary for vocals? i recently tried a vocal booth at someone place at it sounded very dead as if some one had soaked my vocals. i find my set up better then that but not perfect .so plz help me i have tried to explain my problem any help would be truly appreciated.
my room is a rectangle shaped whats the best place to put my mic and my speakers. should i have acoustic foam all around. i have in on two side at the moment and carpet at the bottom and 8 mattress on the other sides.
