Before I was just going straight into the Audiophile 2496 card with the mic. I recently got an Event EMP-1 preamp.

My problem is I cannot use the preamp and crank my guitar amp past 1 and 1/2 on the master without clipping like a s.o.b. and this is with the preamp level knob all the way to the left.

I've tried adjusting the "Master Volume" and the "H/W in 1/2" volume on the 2496 control panel and neither seem to affect the input level in any way.

I have a Soldano tube amp and as we all know, tube amps sound best cranked. I never had this problem until I tried using the preamp. Before I could crank my amp up to 5 or 6 on the master (ear bleeding loud) without clipping the input.

I'm using Ntrack software to record.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

due to the fact that your mic now has a preamp..its going to sound louder...as for the clipping....if the mic was doing fine by itself.....then just use the mic by itself for it.... you might want to go to your patchbay router inside the control panel and change your H/W 1/2 to monitor out

Well, I think I've found the problem and it's in Ntrack.

Under the preferrences in the mixer/volume path it specifies that it is using sndvol32.exe which is the windows volume control. For some reason it won't let me change the path to the 2496 mixer controls.
