Need help setting up Steinberg CI2+ Production Kit

I just bought this nice interface, and I read the manual and installed the drivers and Cubase LE 6.
I plugged in my dynamic mic, tried recording and I can see the up and down line on the track (what's the term for that?)
But when I play it back, no sound comes out of my speakers, which is plugged in directly to my computer, instead of the CI2+.
Not a sound even when I load up the sample projects and exported both to wav.
 
Please tell us what your OS is. There are few (easy to make) mistakes. Please do not be offended by these quick suggestions. Are your speakers turned on? (that one has happened to pros too) I am not a regular Cubase user so you will have to dig around a bit: Make sure that your DAW is routed to the proper outputs and computer is set to rec'v its audio from Cubase. This is funny in win 7. Check on board mixer settings so that it "sees" the interface as primary device. Check back later with computer and OS and interface information. Be well. BTW you should connect your (powered) speakers to the output of your interface. If your interface is the primary audio device it will be the output. Hope this helps. Too early/late for me to dig further. I will check back during the day.
 
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with SP1. And the Cubase version I installed is 64 bit.
Speakers are turned on.. Other programs can output audio fine, just not cubase.

I'm a real newbie to audio.. This is the first time I've handled audio recording gear. How do I do those?

Well I would have except my speakers have 1/8" connectors and I don't have the converter yet. And when I try File->Export->Audio mixdown to wav or mp3, the resulting file played with VLC also has no sound. Other audio files are playing okay on VLC.
 
I've tried plugging my headphone straight to the interface. Both the microphone and my guitar sounded good.. Cubase still not working right.. So what settings do I have to change?

In order to get Cubase to play through the PC speakers you need to go to the top info bar>Devices>Device Setup and change the driver for the internal W7 soundcard, probably be thwe only other option in there anyway.

THEN! Back to the main project screen and Devices again>VST connections and setup the PC card as ins and outs. (Cubase cannot have different in and out devices).

I hope this helps I am not very cool with Cubase tho I have Ess'4 on this P4 PC and LE6 on a W7 jobbie I rarely fire them up,(basically only to help yous guys!) For day to day recordings I just use Samplitude...SO much more user friendly!

BTW the things on screen are generally referred to as "waveforms" (they ain't!)

Ah I see. Thanks for your help! It's now running well enough. I still have a lot to learn with cubase though.
