I'm about to take on my first DIY computer project. I will be running Windows XP Pro, Sony Vegas, Sound Forge, and Acid. All are the latest versions. I will also be using it for BOTH audio and video editing and recording. I have been scanning the web and found specs for a couple of computers that were built for NLE (video). I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they need anything added or swaped out for audio. I am also using the 0404 Sound card....yes...I still use ADATS for drums only...I transfer tracks with an older computer. I am getting ready to upgrade from my old DELL(piece o' shit)

Here are the specs

Any comments welcome

1. XP Pro has nothing you need over Home, unless you're networking, and you shouldn't be.

2. 420w strikes me as decent, but why skimp? Underpowering your system will cause misery. You can get a silent, fanless PS to about 450, for under $200.

3. Related note, make sure the case has ports for front and rear 120mm fans. Much quieter than 80's.

4. There's an NEC DVDRW on Newegg that gets top user reviews, for $50 ish.

5. Mobo?

6. I don't know what I'm talking about, wait for somebody who's not a doofus to respond.
