Need help picking out a CDR

I am in the market for a plextor (I've heard they are the best) but need help deciphering what I need. What's the difference between the IDE, EIDE, SCSI... I don't have a SCSI card or whatever, so what else would I need if I got that? What's better the EIDE or the IDE?
Thanks,
Phil

Pretty much everything is EIDE these days unless your using an old 486. The terms are used loosly though and pretty much interchangably although they are different.

For CD-RW drives in EIDE (ATAPI) interface I would check out the mitsumi's, although the plextors are supposed to be good. I've used Sony, Mitsumi and Yamaha, all with good results.

If you went SCSI, you need a controller card as well. Yamaha makes very nice SCSI burners. Ones I don't like - RICOH, Smart and Friendly and anything prefixed by "Cyber".
