the drummer i record with has a set of yamaha electronic drums (the set for 900 bucks in musicians friend). he can't figure out how to adjust the volume of each individual drum. the snare is a little too loud and the floor tom is way too loud on every pre-set kit.

also some kits have a good bass drum but the snare sucks and some kits sound good but the crash cyble sucks....how do you set up a custom kit?

the manual is like taking a course in rocket science (i have learned the korg d-1600 from the manual and can't make heads or tails out of the drum manual)
any healp would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmm which kit is it...?

Is this the DTXpress, with the reddy-orange rack looking brain...? Or is it the DTX V2...? If it's the DTX V2, I can help you because I have one (and it's great). I know nothing about the DTXpress brain though - sorry...

Look for a "Voice" button, that's where you need to look on the DTX...

Dave (doesn't think he was much help).

I don't have a DTExpress module in front of me - but you can go in through the menu (you have to run through a few pages (screens) of menu - but you can adjust individual output volume for each trigger, and you can assign any sound to any trigger.

I figured out how to do this without even looking at the maunual. I agree the Yamaha manuals are written poorly - but something as basic as changing sounds or adjusting volume are very easy to find in the manual.

I will look at a manual on Sunday when I'm back in the drum shop, and I can give more details then.

But, it would serve you (and more importantly your drummer) better to learn on your own. It does not make sense to spend $1000 on a piece of gear and not learn how to use it.

OK, I looked at the DTExpress

On the right side of the module are 6 clear buttons and 9 black buttons. Hit the clear button makred "Voice". Then hit the black buttons maked "Page" you may have to scroll thru a couple of screens until you find the screen that shows "Vol" (volume). Use the select button (also black buttons) to move the cursor to the the parameter you want to change (in this case volume) and then use the value (also black buttons) to adjust the volume of each drum sound.

By hitting the pads, the module will recognize that pad as the one you want to adjust.

The "page" will also get you to the screen where you assign sounds to each pad (S is for snare, T is for toms etc.)

I did not use a manua,l I just pressed a couple of buttons - you and your drummer should not have too much trouble getting around the menu pages.

Good luck!!!
