need help on pc based hm studio setup

hii there guys!!! i need help on studio setup...

ive been doing some demo recording with my pc (generic soundcard......i know!!).im using cakewalk sonar, use a korg d16hdd recorder as mixerand monitoring it thro my hifi(i know!!!)

so the million $ qn will be: if i were to buy an active monitor spks, how do i connect 'em to my current system?

thx a lot guys for answering, cuz its been in my head for sometime now!!! :)

Monitors have either 1/4", XLR or RCA inputs.

All you would need would be a Y-adapter/splitter with the 1/8" stereo jack on one side to go into the souncard and 2 mono 1/4" or RCA jacks on on the other end to go to each monitor.
 
Many Hi-Fi systems have an option for two sets of speakers, usually shown as A and B. If yours is this way, you can connect the monitors as B, and then switch between them when you need it.

Nope. felytone is mentioning active speakers.

You just bypass the hifi altogether.
The cables that run from your monitoring/mixing device to your hifi now need to run from your monitoring/mixing device straight into the active monitors. C'est tout.

Yes I noticed that too, but thought he probably meant he was considering both types as he discussed how to connect to his hi-fi.

wat you guys think of brzilian's idea?

wat if i were to use a headphone amp? shud i connect it to the line out from the computer as well? in dat case i need a y- junction at the line out as well rite?
