Well I've been thru the manuals over and over again!!!

I must be making a really simple mistake somewhere...
I connect a mic to the mixer, the mixers led-lights next to the faders works fine.. but the sound won't show up in Cubase SX... WHY?
Somehow I can't seem to get sound to computer... I feel this this must be a simple easy thing that I miss somewhere...

When I open "device->device setup->vst audiobay" and under there I find my onyx mixer which I installed earlier. When opening an old project, selecting a certain track and want to change its ins and out channel I can only select ASIO MUTIMEDIA crap (or direct X shit..LOL!).. WHY? and HOW to change it?

The same happens if I open the mixer in cubase (F3). On top of each channel it says, input routing/output routing. Here, I can also ONLY choose the ASIO MULTIMEDIA crap... Of couse I would like to select Mackie Asio Onyx...

The installation of the onyx worked really fine(!)..but nevertheless the sound don't reach Cubase... any suggestions? My feeling of this is that it is a really basic thing that I do wrong somewhere... and that it should be easy to solve...but then, I'm also not a computer nerd...LOL!

I've only briefly worked with Cubase, so my knowledge of it is very weak, but...Did you run the ASIO Setup Program that it installs with Cubase? I believe there are two programs: one deals with MME, the other Full Duplex ASIO or something similar. Run these and set up your I's and O's if you haven't.

Hmmm....

ASIO (or DX) is the protocol by which Cubase communicates with your audio hardware, if I remember correctly. You may have to set up the Onyx in Cubase before it will be recognized.

If you have the Cubase documentation (I think it comes with a bunch of .PDF docs) look for a getting started manual. Also, check the manual of the Onyx to see if it gives you any hints about how to set it up with Cubase.

In Cubase, check the Devices menu, Device Setup, then VST Multitrack- see if the mackie shows up there? (I have SX 2- it may be slightly different if you are using SX 1 or 3).

Good luck!
Chris
