there must be certain monitors which work BETTER for certain "genres" of music than others. i am sure there are monitors that are well suited for a 3-piece "guitar/bass/drums" punk band as well as monitors that are better suited for an EXTREMELY "bass-heavy" hip-hop group. maybe durability issues are involved,..maybe frequency response BASED on the style of music played through them.
i am looking for monitors that will translate orchestral (chamber orchestra-type) and ambient (sometimes QUITE minimalistic in nature) music......lots of quiet passages with acoustic and other delicate instrumentation,...sometimes dramatic changes in "inflection" (i.e. a sudden SOARING viola solo,...etc).....but mainly CLARITY and VERY WELL DEFINED STEREO SEPERATION!! are the Mackie HR's the way to go?? the KRok V8's?? EXCELLENT reproduction of "delicate"instruments is what i'm after. my budget would only allow for expenses in the $1200-$1500 for a pair (unless of course there is an excellent choice for less!). i figure these might be the ONLY pair of GOOD monitors i'll buy,..so i'll need some good advice. any direction/advice would be appreciated. thanks.
