I have a Sampson L1200 mixing board, and have tried hooking it to my laptop ( Win8 and a USB cable ) using FL to record vocals, but can't make it work.
When I first connected the board, the comp automatically detected and downloaded and installed the Sampson audio codec, nice touch by Sampson to automate that process.
I selected that codec in Win8 to both record and playback by default. But FL, even though it recognized the codec, and it shows up in the input/output selector on the FL mixer, will not record, and will not produce any sound when an instrumental song is played into it using the mixer, all I get is a screeching noise that I figure is the sound looping back and forth.
FL tells me it needs to record via ASIO, which is already installed, and I have used to record my keyboard into FL. That works like a charm. But fiddle as I may, I cannot get FL to record vocals through the mixing board and into the program.
I know this can be done (right?) Can anyone help me with this? I have read that I can make the connection via stereo cables rather than USB. Is this viable? Haven't tried it yet.
Really need to get this going as I wish to lay down vocals through the board, and need to do it soon.
Many thanks in advance,
JRH
