Hi,

I'm intending to do some recording. I'm planning on getting a pair of Rode NT5s (http://www.rodemicrophones.com/specsnt5/nt5specs.htm). And I already have a Roland VS880 workstation.

1) There are 4 mic input holes at the back of the vs880. If I get the NT5s and record in stereo, I'd imagine each of the mics would go in seperate holes, right?

2) If the above is correct, it means that one of the mics (left) would record into track one and the other (right) will record into track 2. Now, how do I playback properly? There is a pan function on the vs880. Do I pan track one all the way left and pan track 2 all the way to the right? or do i leave both tracks as is (non-paned) and just play back like that?

3) After I've done all the recording, can I just use the master output of the workstation and plug it into the PC audio input hole (I'm using A78NX-X onboard sound)?

Thanks

when recording in stereo with two mics into two mixer channels.
pan one channel all way left and second all way right.
rodes are good mics.
but if you want a cheaper alternative check out a pasir of cad gxl
for 50 bucks each or cad m179. (more expensive).
i would be surprised if you didnt like these. as a lot of folks seem to like them. please NOTE THEY NEED PHANTOM POWER.
NOTE , take stereo line out of roland into stereo line in (NOT MIC IN)
of your sound card. NOTE: if your using on board sound you should consider a decent sound card sometime.
frankly i use amd athlon for all my tracking, and mixing.
much more flexible imho. particularly editing. and more tracks.
if your struggling with finding a good recording program try whay i and
thousands of others use on PC ,,,,powertracks from pgmusic.com.
only 29 bucks for 48 tracks. does 24 bit as well !! handles multi in sound cards and includes a superb midi sequencer. if youy think i'm lying try the demo and talk to other users for theiropinions on the pg powertracvks forum.
VERY IMPORTANT. if your using on board pc sound MAKE SURE YOU GO INTO
WINDOWS RECORDING PROPERTIES and line in is not muted and the FADER IS UP.
if you get issues on windows ask.
