Is there a possible way to convert a disk (from the Kurzweil K2500X) to sheet music just by saving song as a midi 1 file to a formated floppy, plop the floppy in to the computer A drive - open up a music program such as Cakewalk, Music write 2000, Finale, etc and presto a musically correct sheet music is ready to add lyrics and print out?? Please someone answer this ASAP. I am needing sheet music for three songs for Student convention in April and I do not know how to generate the music... thanks
Yes, you can basically do this except perhaps for the musically correct part!
If the playing on the sequence is very precise, it will work very well. If the playing has any human expression, you often end up with the software trying to notate something in a very silly way that no transcriber would ever do because it would be virtually unreadable...
Often you end up with something but you might have to clean it up a lot to make it presentable and truly "correct" in the usual sense.
To this end, the high-end packages work the best and allow the most flexibility -- Finale, Sibelius...
Will translate your MIDI file into sheet music and prints out real nice. Only $18 and is both PC and Mac compatible. Tons of features and a great notation package.
There is a free demo version and manual you can download from their website. I used it to write my album and love it.
