I'm using an M-Audio DMP3 mic preamp and Adobe Audition and can only get sound through vocals if I turn the gain all the way up on the DMP3 and set the track in Audition to be at the highest possible dbs....and even so the sound is still very light. Any suggestions on what is wrong? When I initially hooked up the DMP3 I wasn't thinking and used the Direct In line from the DMP3 into the sound card line in and was worried I might have fried the unit....but I don't think so now because Channel B gets the same minimal sound with everything maxed out...Thanks for any help

Did you make sure that the input on the soundcard is turned up?

If there isn't an icon in the bottom right hand side of your screen, look at

start > settings > control panel > Sounds/Audio devices

I have tried using both my Shure SM57 and a Studio Projects B1 with phantom power from the DMP3. The sound card I'm using for now is Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 (M-Audio Audiophile on the way)...crap I know but in the past I at least got some decent sound from my pc mic connected to the mic in line. yes, the input level is all the way up in control panel.

hummm,it is going worse,I think, download latest drivers to try,the problem also appear,go to repair.

I think the SB Live has a volume adjustment for the Line In level. You probably have that turned down.

Still no luck as of yet

All of my line in settings are at max volume and I have it set to line in for recording. I'm pretty baffled at this point. I can get low sound out of the Shure SM57 but none from the Studio Project B1 when using phantom power to run it...any easy way to find out if there's a damaged link in my system...I hope I didnt destroy my new preamp but starting to think I did plugging it it wrong initially  :(
