Sounds like you need a good Mic pre, Some good Monitors and you are ready to go.

Here's a suggestion on how to get a good sound with the equipment that you have:
(your'e gonna hate me for this!)

USE IT!!

Most peope here swear by the ART Dual MP... good value, excellent sound.

Just a side note... how do you like the sound of the RED Voodoo? I played thru a Blue Voodoo stack at my local store a couple of years ago and thought it sounded awesome.

The red voodoo probably has a little less drive, but it sounds very good. I'm running some other crate cab from it and am very happy, though I hear that the celestion vintage speakers are awesome in the red!! When I do heavier stuff, I run the pod though it with a mega boogie emulation or use a fuzz box. It's a very nice amp. :D

I think the difference is the EQs use cut instead of boost and the red uses different tubes for a cleaner sound.

I have an ART MP and I like it alot (I blows the pres on my TASCAM away at least) I haven't really heard a lot of the others pres available (they're more and more out there all the time) I tried a jomeek and I thought it colored the sound a little too much for me. I would be nice to have options though. For the money, the ART's are probably a good bet.
