heres what I've got.

pc: windows 10 64bit 8 gb ram, 3.9 ghz multi core cpu and disabled integrated graphics.
audio interfaces : can use either my scarlett solo ( prefer not to because no effects ) or my boss br800 digital recording studio.

I've tried using a few different daw's but all get delay, skipping issues while recording....i'm currently using reason 32bit

the setup I'm trying to get to work is plugging instruments in through the boss br800 and then recording what I play on the DAW, then playing back the recorded track while recording a new track in time with it.... but it is either delayed or it's in time but there are skips randomly throwing my recording off.

I sue no effects on the DAw all the effects are applied by the boss br800 ( like guitar effects etc...) and I use a drum machine to play my drum beats so not using any plugins or midi.

it's basically all direct inputs and recording yet I am having issues.... and my older pc before I got this one had no issues at all even though it was less powerful....

can anyone give me some suggestions to try on reason for an example to configure me to play and record with no delay issues etc....

I have set my playback and recording to br 800 and I'm getting no problems signal wise... just playback issues. cheers.

It isn't the computer that's slowing things down, it's not using your interface's low latency input monitoring. I don't know if the BR800 even has such a feature since it's primarily a standalone recorder. But the Scarlett certainly does have low latency input monitoring. Maybe you can connect the BR800's output to the Scarlett's input and record that way.

I know that the digital recorder comes with a bundle pack for sonar le and can be used as a controller if that helps ??

I tried the scarlett solo and was also getting delay when recording... and there is no way of configuring the scarlett solo just plug and play with usb... and the input on the front for guitar or mic... there is nothing changeable with it.

The Scarlett Solo has Direct Monitoring. Engage that switch and mute any tracks that are armed for recording. That should eliminate monitoring latency.

the delay is not on the track I'm recording.... it is on the track I have already recorded.

for example I create a click track and record my bass line too it and it sounds good while recording... then when I play it back they are both out of sync with each other.... then I need to move the track about to get it in time and so on for every track I record then after.... and the other issue I get is while recording even using direct monitoring with scar solo.... is that when I'm recording the bassline to the click source... every 20 secs or so randomly the click source will skip a beat or stop for a millisecond throwing off my timing while recording the bass line.

Then your DAW is not accurately calculating the record latency. You need to manually set the record latency compensation in your DAW.

How are you getting the audio from the BR800 into the computer - via USB, or audio out to the computer's line in? If you were using the Scarlett with the correct ASIO drivers, then everything should synch up correctly.

connected with usb in usb mode... and justy installed the sonar le that came with the recorder but still getting the track out of sync when playing back issue....

if it aint a pc issue and my digi recorder is designed to link up with this sonar le.... what is the problem ?

I prefer using the boss as it had effects built in for using and such.

---------- Update ----------

when I installed the scarlett there was no asio drivers installed automatically ?

As stated above, the DAW should have delay compensation. Usually this is set automatically. Do a search on delay compensation on your DAW or look in the manual, should be there somewhere. Also, make sure you have the ASIO drivers selected.

You should also monitor from your interface, not the sound card.

No, you have to install the ASIO driver. It comes on a disk or you can download it.

Downloads | Focusrite.

The ASIO driver will report the latency to the DAW and automatic compensation is applied. That will line up the tracks in your DAW. But to eliminate playback latency when you record, use the Direct Monitor option on the Solo.

Also be sure you have the right value for the streaming buffer. Somewhere in the Solo control panel should be a parameter for Buffer Size. Increase that value until the skipping, stuttering, glitches stop.

I actually sorted it earlier by changing the buffer size i dragged it all the way to the left which says safe and if i went all the way to the left it would say fastest.. is this cool for recording ? or is there a reason why people find the happy medium ?

also side question that I've noticed and is a pain in the ass, I've noticed when adjusting the volume sliders/ pan knob etc.... that as soon as i click on it and go to move it up or down... it just flies to 100% or 0% and going slow and soft doesn't work... so i need to manually input the volume level which is a pain when trying to find the right mix level.

cheers.

If you're using the direct monitor, you can put it all the way to the safe side, the highest value for buffers. This lightens the load on the CPU and no skipping or glitching. The trade off is you don't hear the processing that is on the track, but 90% of time, you don't need to.

I don't know anything about Reason, so can't help you with the slider/fader question.
