hi, i'm new to this forum. hope you guys can help me out. i've always wanted to delve into home recording, and now is the time. i just need your suggestions.

i need an interface, with enough outputs/inputs to record drums. and even a live jam. but i'd also like it to come with sound card, so it could function as my PC sound card, and i could hook up my powered monitors to them.

and i'm not sure what software i should buy. i really would like this to be a good purchase cause i plan on using it forever, and i would like it to be really professional. i don't mind the learning curve.

any suggestions is welcome. thanks!!

and i just realized that you had a newb section. LOL sorry.

I'd go with the Presonus Firepod and Cubase LE or the M-Audio Project Mix with M-Powered Protools.

Option 1 is 50% cheaper than option 2.

I agree with Sixways about the Firepod --- it fits your requirements well. It's built to last, has eight first quality mic preamps and comes with Cubase LE.

Your desire to get something that will last 'forever' is possible and even probable if you go with the Firepod as your hardware but the software side of things is constantly in flux. Whatever software you go with will need regular updating, grooming and maintenance so don't expect that part to last a lifetime...

And welcome to the board!
