Well that's pretty much it, I'm looking to get a mac and have no clue with anything. I'm guessing that the G4 is the best to go with. Am I right by saying that the iMac and eMac don't have any kind of pci slots, it's all firewire and usb? Also, is firewire good? Any info is appreciated, thanks

I would definitely go with a G4 tower. That way you have more expandibility with both IDE and PCI, in addition to having Firewire.

It depends......

Now where have I heard that before?

What do you want to do with it and what is your budget? Is portability an issue?

You might want to read through this discussion as well. Some of it is a bit "tech" oriented but most of these guys know their shit when it comes to Macs. Take note that on that forum the newest post is at the top. Strange at first but cool when you get used to it.

i'm gonna be doing the same thing. i plan to get a G4 tower off ebay. and upgrade it a bit, the RAM and processor and such...

I think for the buck, the eMac is a great deal, but that's if you're ok with using firewire or USB.

Although I have heard it's pretty easy to upgrade the internal HD.
