i recently purchased an emu tracker pre audio interface and have started recording with cakewalk le.i'm ready to start creating my drum tracks using sample loops that came on disc from beta monkey.here lies my problem when i have my audio interface on it serves as my soundcard & i'm able to monitor whatever i have going into the interface or whatever has been recorded into the cakewalk program through my studio monitors.when i want to listen to my samples they don't play through my studio monitors.i have to turn off the interface so i can hear the drums through the computer speakers which of course is being fed by the computers' soundcard drivers.well it's causing cakewalk to crash & dropout from switching back & forth plus it's a real pain to demo different samples & try and find which ones i want to use.i want to hear the samples(media player) through my studio monitors so i don't have to keep switching back & forth.actually i'd be happy to use my studio monitors for all playback purposes but i'm unsure how to get my computer to use the interface as my soundcard for everything.once imported into cakewalk i hear them fine and i have imported different samples into different tracks etc. to be able to work with different samples by setting them up to play for a few measures.so far i've just been trying to do things the old fashioned way by turing off the interface and just going through the samples, over 1300 in all, listening to them in media player with guitar in hand, finding ones that work, jotting them down on paper, and lastly importing them into cakewalk as i go.i'm new to cakewalk also so i'm only beginning to get the basics down on how to set up the drum tracks measure by measure, tempo changes and such.sorry for the long post but their has got to be an easier way to do this.i used a yamaha drum machine previously and could easily scroll through everything and listen to the beats as i scrolled through.no pointing & clicking & when i found one that worked it would play over & over til i stopped it! i guess i can break out my old computer & listen to the samples on that to audition them so i don't have to keep turning off the interface.when i listen to the samples in media player they still don't play as a continuous loop without interupting pauses so it's difficult to play along with them.i need to know how to get media player to use the interface drivers for playback but i havn't been able to figure it out.
