Hello. I have a MXL 990 mic with a chock mount that the elastic bands went loose.

There are two elastic bands, but one is larger than the other. I know how to install the shorter one, but the larger one I haven't figured out how it goes.

I can't find pictures of the whole thing to see how it is installed.

If anyone can help me with this, it will be appreciated.

Regards,
Willy.

Thanks,

Actually, I've seen that picture, and it only shows one angle of the chock mount, the missing angle shows how to install the larger elastic band.

All pictures I've found only show that angle (not the one I need). I'd need to see the other angle in order to see how it is done.

it looks to me like both elastics should be the same length and it doesnt look hard. Dont the holding brackets point you in the right direction.
why dont you post a pic of what you have done and lets see.

Go to the get your 10 post here thread and get your count up first. I think its in the newbie section.
I'd love to help you more

Yeppers and there was me thinking your the new famous Dave.
I'm so bored.

good idea
Come to think of it I have one in need of new elastics. I might just set about it.
thanks

Check all your mics/cables/patchbays so to be sure polarity is the same.

That's always great fun.

last time i reconfigured my patchbays it took me half the night.
thanks but no thanks i'm not that bored and i dont want to add frustration to the list.

It's the same the whole way round. There's nothing different, but here are a few pics of mine.

It's the same chockmount I have, but what confuses me is that mine has one elastic band larger than the other, I can't see that in your pictures.
Can you check if one of them has a different size, maybe?

I'm almost there... thank you!

Now I'm thinking, what if the bands lost their strength?

This is how I had to do it:

I don't think this is the right way to do it.

just get some new elastics for it.
or buy some in a fabric store and make your own for $2
they definitly both should be the same length .
It will be more effective if its suspended evenly.

I didn't take the elastics off but it's eight hoops top and bottom and the pattern is identical.

Your elastic must be stretched somehow.

You can see the tension is different on yours between top and bottom. The mic will sit too high (or too low) and the metal inner right might even hit the outer ring.

To be honest those mounts are a bit flimsy anyway. I never use the mxl one.

Thanks everybody!

I bought some elastic bands and replaced the old ones.
It is not the best looking solution, but it works great.

Here's how it looks:
