I've been lurking here and have been reading alot of post for few days but I have a dillemma. I want to buy my wife for xmas a good kit (Mic, 4-6 channel mixing board) but I'm running out of time. Can someone provide me of some useful links of what to get and where to order it (Online)???

I would like to get her started on my PC, I already have the software to use (CEP, Pro-Studio) just need good input on which MIC and a mixing board to get.

I'm looking to spend upto around $300 so best bang for the buck suggestions are mostly welcome. SO please give me your input as I'm trying to finish off my xmas list...

thanks.

What soundcard do you use, and what will you record with the mic?

Ooops sorry about that.
I have a SB Live card and mostly she'll just be recording her own vocals for input on the PC for cleaning up and manipulations (effects, etc), she download minus one tracks and karoke beats and she writes here own lyrics for it so the board I figure can be useful for beginner/intermediate sound creation. Any other info I might've forgotten please feel free to ask.

thanks again.

ok.. I'd guess a mic and a mic-preamp would give you most bang for the buck.

In the microphone forum there are tons of discussions about mics in your price-range. I bet you'll end up being recommended to buy a Marshall MXL V67 Large Diaphragm Condenser-mic and a Art Tube MP or a DBX MiniPre.
I haven't used this equipment, so don't take this as qualified advice.

Tannoy Proto-J's can now be had for as low as $160.00!
Excellent flat response, handle 50watts to 100 watts RMS and are both clean and transparent!
