Need general midi plugin for playing MIDI files

what are some good multi-tamber general midi synth plugins?
I am converting multi track MIDI files to audio using Sonar 8 producer.
I was using my roland TD-8 drum module for external sound source then recording the audio while playing the midi file....this works well but I want to sell the module and go all virtual drums
so now I think the best way would be to use a plugin

I think a good general midi plugin with drums bass and other sounds would be ideal but Im new to this and have not found a good easy to use plugin that plays general MIDI sounds. Hopefully a free one or something that came with Cakewalk Sonar would be great.

most of the plugins are mono that I have tried.
Can anyone help?

Included free in Sonar 8 :)

Yep, BentRabbit is right, it is included. As is Studio Instruments: Studio Drummer, which is a pretty decent drum module.
I haven't found any really good free drum plugins, although DSK Music has "minidrumZ" http://www.dskmusic.com/blog/?p=105, and "AkoustikdrumZ" http://www.dskmusic.com/blog/?page_id=3, which are more or less "vintage" drum machine emulators. They actually have some very good sounding synths, but the behavior from one synth to the next can be radically uneven.
Another site to get some VSTs from is Freemusicsoftware.org http://freemusicsoftware.org/category/vsti, which is a database with links of free VST instruments, effects, soundfonts. I like the freeamp 2.5 and 3 amp simulators. Easily on the level of the original IK Amplitube and Guitar Rig.
Just some suggestions. Hope they help.
