need for knowledge

i'm totaly new to midi.i would like the names of some books that will help me understand what midi is and how it works,how to make conections,which piece of equiptment to use as a controler,ect.what web sites are good and above all else keeping it as simple as possible(remember i'm a musician).any help will be appreciated.

This is a great first book for a newbie. For the price, you will love this book and then as you grow more experienced you can read more in depth books on MIDI.
