I'm gonna pretend that you're me a couple of years back, so that you don't have to figure out everything for yourself. Cause that's gonna kill the enthusiasm on the average joe...but it didn't kill me, just nearly...hehe
You need to fill them up some more. I don't necessarily mean to beef up the content by adding more element. Here's the tricky part...and what often kills the lot of the future beatmakers...cutting/boosting frequencies and compression (that was the short version) I really don't want to go to deep into that cause by the time I conclude that article I'll probably be typing the final dot from within my grave...
First of all the levels. (Volume of the individuals channels/instruments)
I noticed that they were all over the place. The shakers on the A track I felt was to loud, and the hihats on the B track very low...somewhere in the middle would probably be a good place to start. The A track lacked some low end (bass) and the organ(ish) sound was killed when what I presume was going to present the bass came in, but it went away again, it causes the balance of the mix to fall over. -You have this bass element that pops in and out of the track from time to time. I don't know if you meant for it to act as a bass, but being the instrument with the dominating low frequency it takes the place of the bass. It needs to be fuller, and more consistant. More and more I hear beats with no bass at all, often american style beats. By no bass at all I mean no low end instrument. These beats get their power and punch from a massive kickdrum. Some energetic lowend is needed to juice it up...
The B track has a pretty good idea to it. Highpitched tune and a low end driver...allthough; I don't think the highpitched tune has enough sparks to it to fully get the impact you're looking for. You could benefit from playing it a bit more varied as well. Not deviate to much from the main tune, but play some more with it and perhaps finds some notes that sounds better together. "Basswise" here it could have been "amped" a bit, make it a bit louder. Not much just a bit.
I really don't want to go into the compression and frequency thing right now so my advise is to check out the DJ / Hip-Hop / Rap / Beats Forum (Where you were right before you clicked yourself into your own post...) and have a look at the thread at the top...might find some usefull info there.
I don't know if you found any of this usefull, but it's just a quick guide...
