need fast help

Hey i need help,
i have a tascam dp -018 track recorder,
I cant get it to play, the play light blinks and it just says "not stoped" and when i press stop nothing happends - can anyone tell me what i gotta do

The manual (page 53) says that 'Not Stopped' indicates you're trying to press a button to start some action that can only be done when not in PLAY mode, such as bouncing. Does it give you this message when you power up, or are you in the middle of doing something when it appears?
