need ears for my beats

i only use it for redrum to make simple beats so i can begin getting the ideas of a song started.

cant say ive been able to use it successfully for hiphop.
 
It's all I use. Software based, and Reason gives you pretty much anything you can ask for as far as "beat-making software". Been in Propellerheads grip since 2005. But as with anything, get the demo, play around with it, and figure out if it's something that you could get used to. I love reason... it's an awesome tool for music creation. Reason 4 is much better than Reason 3.. the sequencer is more like a real sequencer and you have a click track... which is very helpful in getting the timing right when programming drums manually.

I love all the new thor sounds... the basses.. i really love. Dr rex is just an unbelievable loop player... no science degree required to sync up loops with a pre-existing drum track or whatever....track. I wish they would add the ability to use external midi sources... or run them rather... and add an audio track... it would then be a daw at that point.

Love it....I use Reason 3 on one PC and then 4 on another...I've been into it since about 04. For some reason (no pun intended), it's easier for me to sequence drums the way I want them on Reason 3 and then finish the rest of the beat on Reason 4. Just don't install both on the same PC...I did that once and they conflicted LOL.

I can "almost" do ANYTHING music related to a beat with it. Sounds are endless as compared to hardware (which is what I like most). And it's EASY to go back in and re-edit your work to make it 10x better or just spice it up later...as long as you have the original file and the sounds.

I doubt I'll be switching up anytime soon.

i think that reason is easy to work with if you already have experiencs with real hardware
 
Been using Reason since 2003....started with 2.5 now have 4.0....it takes a good month to get a handle on it and some reading to get really good but MAN...it is awesome.....you should also get Recycle if you are doing hip hop....great for making samples for Reason....
 
Reason is great for hip hop you can pretty much use it for any style, its real versatile. I get some great results out of it.
