Right now I'm using instrument cables to connect my monitors to my system, do I need to use a certain type of cable or are instrument cables fine? Will they do any damage to my monitors? Thanks.
Are your monitors passive or active? With passive monitors you should use speaker cable. With active monitors you should use balanced cable (2 conductors plus a shield).
