Im looking for a mastering program... I want to be able to arrange all my bounced-to-disk tracks and do some final volume tweaking, maybe tweak the spaces in between each song etc.... and then burn a final master cd for dupping...I know of Digi's "Masterlist", but at the whopping price of $495.. They can keep it!
Anyways....Im running PC, Windows ME....

Any help is appreciated...

THANX

By the way, it's legit software, Im looking for, please don't offer me any Pirates... :) Thanks

Vox,

Wavelab (by Steinberg) is a great program for this. I have and use it with great success. I'm not sure you meant by cheap, but Wavelab is about $300. If it's in your price range, this program would be able to do what you want to do.

A cheaper program that can burn CDs, create and print CD labels and does some wave manipulation (volume, normalization, etc) is Nero. Nero is $50. I also have Nero and use it only for burning of data files to CD, but it can be used like Wavelab for some minor audio functions like volume adjustments, etc I have NOT used it in this way and cannot speak of "how" it performs, but it performs the data burning functions that I use it for flawlessly. Go to Ahead's website at http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm You can get a 30-day demo (fully functioning demo) and try it out for yourself. After the demo period, the program needs an authorization code to work.

You also might wanna check T-racks. I think it's www.t-racks.com It's around 200$ I believe, and it's more of a dedicated mastering program, though I would recommend wavelab first.

Well I'm getting Ozone, as soon as I have the cashish...

www.izotope.com

I've used the demo and it appeals to me alot more than the others.

How about sending your material off to have it mastered?

Eurythmic...

Been there Done it.... My music is a hobby and I have gotten great compliments about my mastering from pro-mastering engineers....I like my sound and heck, I enjoy doing it.:)

I think you might have misunderstood my inquiry...

It's not the actual sound mastering that is my problem....

What I need is a program to arrange all my already-mastered tracks.

Wavelab would be your best bet, it comes with a nice little setup to burn cds as well allowing you to not have to use a bunch of different programs between mixing and the final cd.

It's really easy to use too, I prefer it to most of the stand alone wave editing programs.

You may not be looking to spend that much money, but it will be well worth it in the long when you figure out everything it can do for you.

I would also concure with the recommendations for Wavelab. Great mastering/wave editing program, which also allows you to burn CD's with complete control over CD layout.

BTW, PapillonIrl, Ozone is not a mastering program. Rather it is a mastering plug-in (along the lines of Waves Ltd.) that can used within a mastering program. I have heard good things about it, but it is not a standalone product.

Thanks guys... I think I will just have to quit being so cheap and shell out a few $$$...

Thanks for your replies....

VOX...........

To Bruce:....

What I meant by the above was... Im going to buy Wavelab.... I didn't mean I was going to a real mastering house silly boy!

:D:D

VOX...

If....

"Pro-Tools=Lamborghini
Adats and Mixer= Feugo "

...Holds true - then...

"Motu + LAP=Lamborghini with gas to run on....." ;)

Jus kiddin with ya man!

Hey! Where's that song? :D

When you say "What I need is a program to arrange all my already-mastered tracks" do you mean just ordering them on a CDR? If so, any CD Burning program will do that - Nero, EZCD Creator, etc.

I believe Sound Forge will also set up CD Burns, as well as Music match.

As for actually "mastering" tracks, I use Sound Forge for my own unholy experiments in this arcane field. :D

I have not used Wavelab, do they have a downloadable demo version I can check out? And if so, does anyone know the website?

LOL!!!!! Now that's funny! Gotta love your sense of humor... :D

Thanks Dach!

Yes, I have to be careful using that word "Mastering", I don't want to set off another 40 page thread. Chessrock understands!

But I DO have a mastering question -

I'm trying to learn all mastering secrets & knowlage at once. Study, experimenting, & hard work just seem SO old fashioned. I downloaded the Alan Parsons plug-in but it doesn't seem to work. So, I've sacrificed a goat, spread its entrails in a circle arround my studio, and danced naked arround it. But the knowledge still wont come to me.... what could I possibly be doing wrong????
