Need an opinion on a mix.

Loved this as soon as it started...Nice Guitar... Vocals are very good - redo if you feel the need - but they sound good now.
Not fussy about 1:24 short section of fuzzy guitar tone. Lead is good - same fuzzy ness but works for a solo....
That right side lead could be a little higher - same as vocals per se.
Vocals really sit nice throughout this piece - never lose them in the music but never over loud either.

Great guitar tone. Vocals are real crisp. Personally I think the guitar overwhelms the voice and drums when the drums kick in around 49 exactly - I think maybe pull the guitar back a little there. At 1:26 the bass drum seems to really disappear - if you could bring it back up it would match the intensity build up better.

This is a kick ass song - I hope you are getting paid cause this is definitely radio material. You should be signed.

Clear upfront guitar with space around it. Nice. Even if you replace the vocal, the voice and the delivery fits. You can bring up the kick if you like, in the bit before the snare starts throcking. I think the drum level is better when everything gets louder, but then they sort of drown out that other sound that comes in with the chorus on the right. Is it a piano? Ha! I'm not sure. See? But if it was just a *bit* more distinct...

Lotsa people will like this tune. It's solid.

reminds me of "walking in memphis" for some reason at the start.

Good mix. No suggestions. Good tune too. Good job.

Guitars were a Gibson Acoustic, Fender Strat and a Gibson Les Paul Classic though a Marshall amp and sound fantastic, I agree :P

I now see what you're saying about 0:49 with the guitars overwhelming the vox, I'll bring them down there.
I'll bring the Bass drum also at 1:26, The last mix I done was on headphones as opposed to my monitors so I couldn't hear the bass drum that well.

And I'm the band's keyboard player also so I'm recording for free but asked for a cut/bung of the album sales haha.
We're looking to tour the UK then in a few years save up and do the US (as there's a bigger market for that style of rock music in the US as there is in the UK) and hopefully get a good deal from that.

Higher in volume I take it? I'll have a go with that.

It's a piano, I've not finished tracking it yet (it's my part and I'm a lazy sod :P) so I'll mix it in better once it's done haha!

nice! with the small changes suggested it'll sound great. Don't change it too much though :)

I thought the acoustic guitar sound was terrific. I like the singer. Electric guitar sounds good too.

The vocal had just a hint of boxiness to it. I wonder if a small and narrow cut somewhere in the 700hz - 1200hz range might help that.

How's this mix?

Changes

- Cut vocals at just under 700Hz to take out boxiness
- Turned up Bass drum after first chorus
- Turned up Les Paul (Right hand side guitar) after first chorus
- Turned up Vocals on last chorus
- Turned up the Acoustic guitar in the last chorus also as the electrics were drowning it out
- Turned up the piano in the initial pre-chorus, although I've still done nothing with the piano after that tracking wise, I've yet to make up a proper part for it.
