Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 | Sweetwater
Bang on the money there Keith! I don't know much about the Presus'esssss! But can give OP chapter an verse on the KA6.
Two very low noise mic pres (SM57 flat out for acoustic guitar no sweat) could do with 6dB more gain but very usable as it. Balanced line ins on the front or high Z instrument inputs.
Two more (3&4) bal' line jacks at the back plus MIDI I/O and S/PDIF. Four 1/4" balanced line outs. So you have immediately a 4 in 4 out interface with MIDI and digital.
The Drivers are made of stone and I have used my KA6 on XP, W7, W10 and even the appalling Blista. I know several people who use them on macs and a couple on Linux. The drivers are totally stable. I have had maybe 6 AIs in the last 12 years, nothing has been SO little bother as the NI.
The latency is the lowest you will get on any AI sub $400.
The converter quality is excellent and Pete at Scan Computers said it had only jeeeust been bettered by the Zoom UAC-2 but the Zoom is more money and has fewer connections.
Ok, the headphone amps won't blow your brains out but that is to be expected for a 'bus' powered AI with all this connectivity. (an HA400 is cheap and most handy!)
Fergot! The cut down version of the supplied Cubase is just that, 'cut down' not 'crippled' as some would say. This means fewer track and fewer VSTis and FX but STILL very usable for the noob and IF he gets on with it (I don't) there is a 'coupon' for an upgrade. But, you also get a Kontakt player and can download about 3G of samples.
Dave.
