I am building an addition to my house this spring and I am in the design stages right now. The addition will be two stories, the top story dedicated to my growing home studio. The area for the studio will be roughly 800 s/f. I can divide that area up pretty much any way I want.

I want to design the control/mix room to have the best possible acoustics. The room can be any shape within the span of a 30 X 35 s/f area with a ceiling height up to about 10'.

I'm working with an architect on the design of the building, but he knows nothing about studio room acoustics.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks,

Patrick

Hey dude, check out the studio building and display forum at the bottom of the list. There should be plenty there to keep you busy and some good guys like John Sayers to give you a hand.

If you are paying a designer, I think you would be spending good money to hire John Sayers to design the room, and let the architect make the design legal for your local building codes. For the best room in your space, somebody with an expertise in acoustics in invaluable!

John Sayers email address is: johnsay@locall.aunz.com I am sure that he will not mind being hired to design a glorious room for you! His website has many pictures of the studios he has designed.

Good luck.

Ed
