This is a recording my band has been trying to make. I would like advice on how to improve the song in any way. I am still new at this and learn a lot everyday. Thanks a lot for the help!
Some nits--the drums are a tad boxy sounding (but overall sound good). The high hat is panned far left--a little extreme for my taste.
Considering how prominent the acoustic guitar is, you might wanna try double tracking it--actually play it twice (don't just copy & paste it!) and pan one left and one right. Could really add some depth.
I'd bring the bass up some. (Double tracking and panning the acoustic guitar would create some room "in the middle" for the bass as well).
The vocals sound good--that's a hard one for a lot of folks, so nice job.
i agree with the double tracking of the acoustic and panning one on left one on right. Maybe compress the vocals and turn em up a little make them a little warmer sounding they sound a bit thin, good performance though. there's too much emphasis on the acousic in the first half of the song, it's played well but over powers everything else that's going on. once the solo kicks in everything sounds more balanced. I think the end of the song where its just the acoustic again would work well as is with just the one track of the acoustic. gave it two listens. take it for what it's worth.
I feel like it needs a little glue... something to gel the parts together. Every part is very percussive and bouncy. If there was something a bit more smooth in the arrangement, I think it would benefit the tune. This could be a number of things. A piano or an organ sound would do wonders. A strummed electric guitar on the 1 of every measure or every other measure that sustains. Any number of things really.
