Was there a question, or a problem that you are having. The software just about runs itself. Maybe someone can help.

Fangar.

You guys are silly!

This is my first recording setup and I don't understand some of the stuff in the program. Though I can run it just fine and record tracks, a few of the things just dont' click.
Thanks guys,
Daniel

You know, Sonar and Cakewalk 9 both have an auto update sorta feature that accesses cakewalk everytime you get online. If you are using it unregistered on a machine, and you get online with that same machine, Cakewalk will notify your ISP and they'll cancel you.
Happens all the time, ask around here...

My computer isn't hooked to the internet. thanks for the warning though.

I purchase all of my software because I am anal that way, but you can set your Firewall to block and not allow companies to see what programs you are running. Especially useful for you XP users.

Don't Forget

You are right about the online auto check feature tubedude, but you forgot to clue him in on the GPS modulator which uses the video card in order to transmit location and serial number via magnetic waves generated by your minitor:)

OK this may help

There is a guy who writes books on cakewalk products. He has one out on pro 9.0. I would think he has one out on sonar by now. You should check the cakewalk website at a secure undisclosed location on the second sunday of january when the auto update and gps are down for maintenance. Have the book mailed to a fake address, wait for the mail man with a stun gun, a white rag and cloriform. If he spots you it could get ugly. You will need to knock him out, drive him to the post office and shove him threw the back door with a assault rifle in his hand. Some one else will no dobt be armed in the building and all you will have to do is make a swift get away:)

Where could I get one?
Thanks a lot,
Daniel

All jokes aside ;).... you could purchase a copy of Scott Garrigus's book "Sonar Power".

If you buy Scotts book, it comes with an unremovable behind-the-ear implant. If the book is opened and read in a radius of over 20 feet from that implant, the book will fall apart and the implant will explode, leaving you deaf in one ear.
Or, you can buy Sonar and get a free manual with it.
Or, buy mine. I'm kinda pissed at it right now anyway.
Damnit.

Has anyone read Scotts books?

I have thought about getting his book pertaining to pro 9.0, but I don't want to waste my money if it is going to be pretty basic material. I also am not very interested in expanding my knowledge on midi. (I know cake walk with no midi?!!!?!!!!)

I any of you have read one I'd love a review.

Although midi does bring blank looks from me, if you ever get yourself a little $150 midi controller/keyboard, you'll be digging what you can do with it. Pretty cool. I've always been to lazy and or uninterested to learn it very well though.

Hey, wait a minute!

I posted a link to Sonar Power at the begining of this post.
Guess no one saw it.
Sonar Power is a great book, almost like a "more complete" manual that Cakewalk's manual.
Easier to read and understand also.
I have purchased it and Cakewalk Power when I was using PA9.
I highly recomend Scott's books.

A1 & Tubedude

A1: Yep blew right by me. I didn't read the content of the link given the humorus remark before it.

Tubedude: You know I just sold a Quadrasynth plus piano when I found myself in need of some cash (major checking account snafooo). It would have been a great learning tool but I always just played what I wanted from it threw my board. I guess I was still too much in the learning curve on my new DAW to worry about mastering midi at the same time. I never even bought a cable. I wish like hell I had that keyboard back. I am no fan of Alesis, but they make a pretty good synth if you pay enough.

Merry Christmas

A1. Sorry about that... I blew right past your link also. :D
