Hi i just got a copy of cakewlk 2.0 from my friend. I want to use this to take individual tracks from my roland br 532 and mix an entire song using the tracks tha t i will upload from the br..
please someone help me
i have no idea on how to use cakewalk... and im really really stupid at these kind of things.

I would mix and master on the br console itself, but i have mix numerous times to work around the 4 track limit, and the memory of the smartmedia card is limited. so please someone help me thanks

I'm pretty sure you can't do much audio work, if any, with Cakewalk 2... if I recall, you could trigger the playing of pre-exiting WAV files as events, but that was all.

is that a typo? Do you mean Sonar 2.0? I don't think I even knew what a computer was when cakewalk 2.0 was around! Just wonderin'.

man I remember when I got my copy of Cakewalk v1.0, it was the hot ticket for midi on the IBM XT computer. Hooked it up to my Roland D10 synth, thought I was in heaven.

Peter you may find that the user manuals are a goldmine for this type of information. It's as if someone read your mind and put all the answers in a book.

C'mon fellas, he must be talkin about Sonar 2: who would have a copy of Cakewalk 2?? ( Shoot me if I am wrong, sorry).

Gotta run, my friend is giving me a copy of "Pong' for my Atari. D'oh!!

whoops i meant cakewalkr v 9.0 lol sorry guys. but can u still help me, i dont have a user manual

Look Ma! no manuals

Hmmm, seems to be a common problem for people that rip software. There aught to be a law! The nerve of Cakewalk programmers to allow their pirated software to be distributed without a manual, doh!

Gee...why don't you ask your"friend" for help if he's got the manual?

Oh geez, I'm sorry Peter. I didn't know that if you got your software from a friend then that isn't considered stealing. I must be getting dummer as I'm getting older. Who knows, maybe you can teach me that lying is ok too when you get caught stealing
d'oh!

I'm usually one of the bigger "dicks" on some of this software/manual stuff, but here goes...
Your Roland (Boss) manual will probably be more helpful than Cakewalk's anyway.
Check to see if there's a midi hookup option to a PC. I don't know if the Boss has this, but if so, establish a midi timecode sync between the recoder and the PC. Take your outputs from the recorder into the sound card ins. Have your buddy show you how to arm tracks for audio recording and go from there. Repeat for the second pair of tracks.
If there is no midi sync possible, record a few drum hits at the beginning of your song on the recorder. Copy & paste these hits to the remaining tracks IN THE SAME PLACE on the recorder. Then when you dump them into the PC, you can VISIBLY match up the peaks, by sliding the audio (maybe your friend can show you this too). If it works for you, buy the software.
Good Luck

Hey Peter, don't take it so hard bout the dicks... that's the way it goes... WE DON'T APRECIATE PIRATE !!!
so, it's okay for you to use the copy for tasting & learning, but when you decide to use it, buy the original copy...
Okay... what now... umh.. yeah, I sugest you devide betwen learning and working. You don't wanna mess your work because you've never learnt how to use Cakewalk before. Learn first with some safe material, practise, and so on. Once you think you get enough, then start working on some serious material.

iots not everyone jsut people that auitomatically assume i "pirated" it.. does tha tmean ripping it by using cracks or osemthing?? cuz all i did was borrow it.. and i did ask my friend for advie.. i have it down apt.. thanks anyayz. tho

after you master Sonar, I'd say it's time to tackle those typing skills.

well i dotn go over every detail to make it totally correct, if its understandable then its good enough...

No, I guess you dotn. :)
Recording is pretty detail-oriented, tho.

Chuckie Yo! wot u takin bout man? Eye dint unerstan anytin u sayin bout de tail of de recordin stuff etc. Maybeee dats ware eye goin wrung. :D Lol

You are not exactly helping yourself by attacking everybody.
