Hope you guys could help me:

my wish is to record a demo for a metal-band, in a quiet decent way (not direct-line into pc, of course...).
The band is 3 elements: guitar, bass and vocals. The drum was built with a sequencer resulting in files Midi format (but not already listened to it).
Which stuff I need in your opinions??
Now I have an old PIII 256 Ram with a bad sound card.
No problems for amps, mics ...and other stuff...
In particular I d' like to know which Sound card, and software do you suggets and eventually which mixer.
My budget?? The cheaper, the better...

Thank you very much!!!

are you wanting everything all in one take? if so then you can get an audiophile or delta 410 on www.newegg.com for $120 or $110. we all know the elements of metal but how many guitars are going to be mic'd? and even nowa days how many basses will be mic'd? how many vocals? that will determine your mixer. theres a few more questions there like. do you want everything in one take meaning all on the same track or on different tracks.

Hey distorted,

thank you very much for your help. Could you please explain me in brief what is difference between recording all in one track or in different tracks?Basically I think I will need at least 4 tracks (only one guitar playing in the songs, plus one bass, one vocal and...the drum that is all in one).
Have you got any suggestions about which software should be the best for my situation?

Thank you very much!!

when i said all in one track meaning you will take all the instruments from thier mixer tracks and putting it on one track in your computer cakewalk guitar tracks or home studio or sonar or any of those can record tracks simultaneously you'll probably need a delta 44 or 66 to record 4 tracks at one time
