I'm looking for a laptop in the $800-1100's range and can't decide. I've found two that I really like but I'm not familiar enough with the really detailed tech specs to pick between the two:
Sony Vaio EB series (customized) - $1109
Intel® Core™ i5-580M processor (2.66GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 3.33GHz
500GB Hard Drive (7200rpm)
4GB (2GBx2) DDR3-SDRAM-1066
15.5" Full HD VAIO Premium Display (1920x1080)
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 GPU (1GB VRAM)
High capacity battery
Laptopspark.com :ASUS N53SV-XV1 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Silver Aluminum): Computer & Accessories
Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM processor (2.00GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
500GB Hard Drive (7200rpm)
4GB of DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM, 4 slots, 16GB Max; Nvidia GT540M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 VRAM
15.6" Full HD Display (1920x1080)
I think basically the deciding factor is the processor. The Vaio has an i5 that gets 2.66 GHz, but the asus has an i7 quad core that gets 2GHz. I'm not sure which is better in this scenario.
The laptop will probably be used for alot of multitasking/downloading and infrequent gaming.
I'm looking for something in the 15"-16" range, with a 1080p full HD and at least 1MB dedicated VRAM. Also a 7200rpm HDD is preferred.
