Lizard People
As per some reccomendations on this board I got a hold of these two products...

I just loaded these up last night for the first time and here are my thoughts.

NIB4:

OMFG - I wish I had this sound 20 years ago. Unbelievably realistic B3 sounds.

Lounge Lizard:

OMGWTFBBQ this sounds really good. I used to have a Rhodes stage piano and this program nails it, along with a bunch of suitcases, wurlitzer, etc.

Not much of an in-depth review, but these sounds just kick ass. I was looking at a Nord Electro but it's a toy compared to these.

Wow.

Glad you like them, I'll have to check them out sometime...

I wish I had $200 to spend on b4. It seems like an awsome program, but I don't have the cash.

Yeah I have some questions about using those freeware, and I guess about midi in general. What would be the best way to play with it in real time/ moniter recording in real time? Also can you record something and then mess around with different organ settings afterwards? ie, just record it and then load it into the program?

Provided you have low-latency hardware (i.e ASIO drivers), you can play in (Near)-Realtime. Yes you can record your performance as MIDI data, and then change the sounds to whatever you want after the fact. You need a sequencer or other host program that will host VST (or others like DirectX) effects or Instruments.

I am a total midi noob so... what are ASIO drivers? I have acid 4, can I use one of these shareware programs with that? Also do I need to record into the computer? Is it likely that my soundcard has a midi input? I have a fostex mr8 for the time being (looking to upgrade) which I know has midi, but I think it just might be midi in or something like that. Does anybody know anything about that?
