This is a great songwriting contest. It is sponsored by The Crisis Center and the entry fee is basically tax-deductible. Top songwriters are judges and 4 major publishing companies - EMI, Warner-Chappel, Sony-Tree and Universal have agreed to listen to the grand prize winning song and there are a lot of other benefits. Check it out at www.nashvillesongsearch.com.

"100% of the profit" goes to the charity - what percentage of total take tends to be 'profit'?

Just so y'all know... 1 post spammer aside...this is a reputable contest and it is for charity. My understanding is that the judges, and othe professionals involved in this donate their time and if I'm not mistaken they raised around $150,000 (don't shoot me if I'm not exactly right on that number) for the Crisis Center last year. This is a long time favorite charity of a lot of the music people in town.

Just thought I'd let you know...

And no, I have nothing to do with the contest and I didn't enter it either.

:)

woops...thanks for the heads up jag. Apologies to dover.

Oh, plus...did I mention that the contest fee is tax deductible?

I just read a little more on the site. If you read through it you will see the names of some VERY successful pro songwriters who are donating their time to spend with the winners. This is about as legit as it gets folks. Hmmm...I may enter. A mentoring session with Craig Wiseman? Are you kidding!!! That would be excellent!!! A guaranteed 3 hour co-write session with Chris Lindsey??? Talk about writing up!!! :D
