Ok, I've narrowed it down to these 2.

Metric Halo

The Digi has 2 free mics, but Ive heard Cascade mics, and they blow ass, so Im not worried about them lol.

So which should I get?

I heard the Metric is the better of the 2, is this true?
Can I use any other programs BESIDES P.T. with the Digi?

Im seeing 3 products here.

The digi002 will work with most programs but designed for PT

The Halo appears to be the better but for Mac only if thats your OS

The Metric Halo is one of the greatest preamps I've ever heard.

If I still did a lot of tracking, I'd BUY a Mac if that's all it worked with.

That being said, I'm quite sure it'll work on either... It might be bundled with some Mac software or something, but I mean... You know, it's a preamp.

Ok, maybe I'm just getting mixed messages, from what I was told, and understood, the Metric Halo I gave a link to, was a soundcard interface, with built in pre's etc...this is not the case?

M'kay then...

Consulted an associate. The Halo is indeed a MAC unit.

That being said, I (and he) would imagine that it could still be used as a stand-alone preamp unit, just without the EZ interface, etc.

That's a freaky bummer. What an amazing sounding preamp... An amazing sounding preamp that only 3.7% of the population can take advantage of... Bizzare.

Yea, that does suck some serious c0ck, however, they're coming out with a Windows version of one of the units soon, so if the unit that comes out with a windows version has pre's, I'll be getting it.

Source - 8thstreet.com, I forget which unit..2882 I believe.

That sounds about right for the "general" population. But Apple's "creative market" share remains strong, at least according to the latest (September 2003) TrendWatch numbers: Macs are used by 83 percent of graphic designers, 77 percent of corporate design departments, and 65 percent of ad agencies. I wonder if those percentages would hold for the professional studio sector?
