I don't have anything technical to add, so I'll just say it is good to rock and roll and you do it good.
Cool, thanks for listening and the comments.Reminds me of the Ramones "rock and roll high school"..."teenage lobotomy" era material. I think the sound was just right. I know others have mentioned the bass need to come up in the mix but...
You have to pick and choose what jumps out of a mix. The guitars and drums have a great tone and up front presence in the tune. If you bring the bass out something else has to fall back. If it was a metal or hard rock song you could kick the bass up and pull the guitars back, but, it's not it a punk song and the heavy guitars and drums up front with a lower bass sounds cool.
My 2 cents

Hey there buddy, finally found time to log in here again....
As usual, classic Greg! I hear great detail given to melody this time though. Sure, it's your rough and rugged style but it just sounds so musically complete. Is there anything I can say to the quality of the sound? Nope absolutely nothing! Love it, just like everything else you do.![]()
Hot damn! Joey muthafuckin M is back! Great to see you in here again. Stick around! How are things?
Thanks for checking it.![]()
Things are just fine, man. Just busy all week long but that's what happens when you turn your hobby into your work. Hope to start working on some of my own stuff again soon, new equipment and all....days just need to have more than 24 hours, though!![]()
Thanks for listening. There is compression on the clean guitars in the intro. They're a different track from the overdriven rhythm guitars. My finger picking isn't very good and the Strat is kind of spiky when clean, so I compressed just those tracks to even them out. They overdriven guitars in the rest of the song are a Les Paul. There's no additional compression on the stereo mix though, aside from limiting for loudness. I don't use any compression on the master buss or overdriven guitars. I'm a little confused about the other guitar comment. The rhythm guitars are identical to Election Day. Same guitar, amp, settings, mic, mic position, everything. I even tracked them in the same session. I did "Election Day", liked how they came out, so I pulled up this one from the forgotten bin and tracked these right after. But you hear what you hear and that's cool. Thanks for the comments. It may be that my hearing is shot, but I swear I can hear compression noticeably kicking in when the drums first come in at the beginning. I won't comment on the song because that's always good. My subjective opinion about the mix is as follows: I prefer the guitar sound/mix you had on "Election Day" - mainly because I like big "in your face" guitars and that's not the case here.
Sounds great as usual. The first guitar break sounded more like a Fender amp than a Marshall to me.
I like the line about a poison sea. There's a song title right there.
Took me a while to catch on to the title as a play on Palm Beach. I thought WTF does he know about napalm.
I wish I had half your energy.
Keep rocking dude.
Strange indeed. I believe you, but it must be the different play styles between the Ramones style of this tune and the Vandals style to the other because I went back and listened to them again and "Election Day" still sounds bigger to me. No biggie though - awesome tracks as usual.
Cool man. I hear crystal meth is a good motivational tool that extends days into weeks.
So you're busy with recording people?
Hmm, sounds interesting...I'll try mixing some into my scotch.
I've recorded some people, but my main occupation vocal coaching takes up most of my time, plenty of that spent in my car travelling from one school to another. But things are starting to have a certain pattern, so I'm hoping to do more recording soon.I'm in a couple of different band projects too, so it's a lot of fun.
Listened twice trying to find something to say other than great job. I hear the bass clear, sits real well on my monitors. Your drums sound great as usual, vocals are clear and well performed. I really dig it. Currently on my 4th playback of your Jeffersons cover. Take care, man. Gary
Surf music. There is something you don't hear everyday up here. Nice one.
