Man you got it down for this type of rock Greg! I too enjoyed the Black hood seagulls! It all sounds great and if I had any nit, I would maybe want the lead vox a little more upfront, it gets kinda hard to hear the lyrics at times, and those lyrics are awesome! Great job!

I think they do a sponsorship thing where every page says "follow CURRENT ARTIST, Alicia Keys, and Sigur Ros on Soundcloud!"
If the current artist doesn't have any more songs, it will even jump to the sponsored band's music after the current song finishes.

It would be sweet if they were recommending you to Alicia Keys fans though!

Thanks queepy. Comments noted. :)

That would be awesome. I need some black fans. :D

I dunno man, I'm curious to know what you're on the fence about. Sounds real good, punchy and present. I guess if I had to pick something to change I'd thicken the bass a little, but it's still pretty audible and the bite suits your style. Nice playin!

Thanks man. What I'm on the fence about:

1) I couldn't decide if the guitars have too much gain and/or are too midrangey. I think I'm over that one. I like them the way they are.
2) Bass - level, not so much tone

would like to hear some more low in the kick drum, the drum sounds very 1-4k ish and it needs some 60-80 ... but i like the clicky kick drum sound too so if thats what you were going for then thats fine, but personally i'd like to hear some more low end in general including the bass, but that makes me believe that you were going for the (not a lot of low) sound.

The beginning sounds just like a nice peaceful summer... (which it is where I am now) but Napalm beach must be in hectic downtown Manhattan :-) Apparently I have to spread the rep around... :)

Thanks for listening. I never go for a lot of low end. I'd almost always rather have a tight, controlled, modestly balanced frequency spectrum and just let the end user EQ their system as they see fit. Could the kick and bass be more boomy? Sure. There's room for it. This has enough low end for me though. It probably doesn't help that almost none of the bass line goes down to the E string. :D

Lol, thanks for checking it out.

I have an issue with Souncloud: I can't read the comments across pages whilst listening!!!
Great intro - Summer of 42 almost.
Bass level I'd, personally, love it just a tad louder but that's because I'm a bassist & I like what you did with the thing.
Nice surf action on the whammy bar, we haven't had a surf punk song for a while.
I like the contrast between the surf guitar and the lead going into the outro too.
Best ever use of seagulls in a rock song - Parents (the outro) by Budgie.
Terriffic song, terrific playing & terriffic mix.

Great mix and performance.... I can hear some issues with tuning on the guitar (solo after whammy) so I'm wonderin if that's the Strat issue mentioned in the other forum. You skill level deserves a new Strat - go hammer on some in the stores and find one you like! I'm not familiar with Ramones and others so I'm not sure if Whammy is used there but I can say you did a tasteful bit in this song and it fit in perfectly.

Hard to say about the bass level. It's not satisfying by modern rock standards, but that style of punk never was very bass heavy. You could ruin the flavor if you overdo it.

Thanks Ray. :) I think I'll address the bass when I go back to this later for the next album if it makes the cut.

I think this is my favorite piece of yours so far Greg!
Wow, thanks dude. :)

Thanks Ido. Yup, that lead is the trouble Strat. Piece of crap. I don't know what happened to it. It used to be fine. No worries, I'm not buying another Strat ever. I got something cooler on the horizon. :D

Thanks. Yeah I'll play with it more later and see how it goes with bigger bass.

Hey Greg - finally got around to listening to this. It's really good - one my favourites of yours. When you did the feedback at the end were you in front of your 4x12? Ouch!

Thanks dude. Yup, the whole thing was tracked literally feet from the cab. Lol. I can't say enough about these Vic Firth drummer's tracking headphones. Yeah, they sound like shit, but for pure outside noise attenuation while tracking, they're fantastic. I can monitor what I'm doing comfortably without blowing my ears out while tracking a blaring Marshall without blowing my ears out. :D

I've had em for years. A MUST for tracking drums/loud shit.

Those cans look pretty chunky! My HD280s are pretty good for that, too. I don't know how they'd stack up against a 100w Marshall into a 4x12, but I can track at loud bedroom levels and hear what's going into the interface rather than just the amp in the room.

Reminds me of the Ramones "rock and roll high school"..."teenage lobotomy" era material. I think the sound was just right. I know others have mentioned the bass need to come up in the mix but...
You have to pick and choose what jumps out of a mix. The guitars and drums have a great tone and up front presence in the tune. If you bring the bass out something else has to fall back. If it was a metal or hard rock song you could kick the bass up and pull the guitars back, but, it's not it a punk song and the heavy guitars and drums up front with a lower bass sounds cool.
My 2 cents
