I can only speak for myself, but here's how the numbers break down for me:

Years of experience spent recording, developing, mixing, producing, editing, experimenting, etc.: 28

Years as a regular contributer to this BBS: 2

That comes out to about 93% actually gaining knowlede, experience, and learning, and about 7% contributing to this BBS. Is that an acceptable percentage for you? And it's actually even more lopsided than that as the last two years I have still been actively mxing, editing and producing along with my activity here.

There comes a time in some folk's careers when they spend less time on the playing field and more time coaching. I feel that I am approaching that transition time. Does that offend you?

i just solved an annoying ground loop problem with 20-plus foot rca cables im using to send my monitor mixer signal across the room to a stereo system with advice given on this site.

whats that information worth? i can now switch between my monitors and my stereo system and the little hum is gone.

I was trying to hook up my dvd player to my mixer in my studio. The length from point A to B is 20 ft and I get alot of hum. I gave up on it. I wanted to play concert dvd's at extremem levels (through my mixer into pa system). I thaught it was my dvd player so I bought another but it does the same (humming noise). Ive tried different rca cables alos to no avail. How did you solve your problem. I just figured the length was the culprit.
 
i thought it was the length also

i read somewhere here that ground loops cause that and to fix it you should have your stuff on the same power strip or outlet.

i had my monitor mixer on a different strip hooked to a different outlet from my computer. i put them on the same strip and that cured it. the stereo is still across the room and on a different outlet though
 
My pc and mixer are in my control room. The TV and DVD are in the break room/live room which is about 20 ft away. Now my PA amps loudspeakers are against the back wall of the combo break room/live room. I have no noise problems with the connection between pc and mixer/pa system. The pc, mixer, and pa are all on different circuits. I'll try tomorrow and run a extension cord from the tv and dvd to the circuit the mixer is on. I didnt try turning the tv off either. May be the tv causing the problems. May have to move it further from the dvd player.

It isn't any new songs Mark. I can't do any recording until the issues with the PC are worked out. I can't wait, because I do have some new stuff I hope to do some collaberating on.:D I am getting reeeel antsy!!

I use this BBS at times when it would be inconvenient to record, like when I'm at work and in the middle of the night, or when I just happen to not be recording. What you expect everyone to spend the entire time working on music? I also think...hey waitaminute!...I don't have to justify myself to you, asshole! :p

Some of the most promenant people here have completed and released their own CD's. Have you?

And what, are you monitoring the amount of time each person spends here in a day? How do you know exactly how much time people are on here?

If you find it so difficult to take anyone's advice seriously, then why the fuck are you stlill here?

hahaha there is a serious problem with that. =) THere are some people here who are not that way (myself for sure) but haha yeah.. there are so many armchair engineers (for the lack of a better term) here
