Cool! I'm glad they're moving.
Only just! I bought 5 pairs. Kept 1 for myself, and sold 3. Sold nothing else though :(. HR member _brian_ seemed interested in the last 2 MSH2s but hasn't bought them yet. Thanks for your support apl :D

I would have if I had the money :(, the money's been going else where sadly. Put it this way, I think buying mic stands are a little more of a priority cause I'm not holding the naiants up while playing the drums that's for sure :D Just now I'm just having to buy the "boring" stuff, stands & acoustic treatment etc. I also have to save for a new snare beacuse the mapex one i have sounds like a depressed monkey farting. I'll be investing in mics in the near future hopefully.

Are you using them for overheads in a permanent location? You could suspend them by their cables from hooks in the ceiling.

You should still be able to get that snare to sound good with good heads/tuning. If you are going to buy a new snare, i might be interested in your mapex. Love the depressed farting monkey sound :D

You can get cheap stands from www.thomann.de (10Euro p&p. Buy over £160 n get free p&p). They used to be cheaper, but not with the £ doing so badly. You can get drum heads from there too.

I wasn't meaning to put you down man. I understand what it's like to be skint(that's why I'm trying to sell the mics ;)).

Good idea. Might be better with X-Ss for that. :D

:D come on apl, i hope that's your comity speaking :p

Generally I've found that when you don't have a great source, transducer or recording medium it's even more important to use your ears, tweek & find the sweet spots. I couldn't do that when supsending mics in that way. The snare - I wouldn't give it to anyone nevermind sell it!! The bottom hoop has been so badly manufactured that two of the lugs are always going to have more tension than the other 4. The hoop surface where it meets the head is uneven . Could replace the hoop but, it sounds like crap anyway.

I didn't take offence pandamonk!! It's just always been my ambition to use "sounds like a depressed monkey farting" in a thread.

Sorry about jacking off your thread :D

I might reluctantly get some then, I never thought they were as... cost effective. My one & only dealing I had with thomann is when I bought valves for my amp, they came "packaged" in something like a 12" square box with no bubble wrap or padding. The valves must have just rattled about the box on their way from germany. I also had to use a bank transfer because they never accepted my switch & I don't have a credit card.

I've bought so many things from thomann. They've all arrived really quickly and well packaged. They usually use inflatable padding things, like really big bubble wrap (makes a much bigger pop :D).

If you're interested in getting rid of the snare, I'll take it. I'll sort it, i like restoring drums, and use it for my hire kit. How much would you want for it? You could use the money to put toward these mics, your acoustic treatment, stands, or your new snare.

Fair enough, I'll contact you closer to the time when I've bought a replacement. The supraphonic will be second hand but it'll still cost around £200 probably so I have to get that together first before I get rid of the VX mapex snare. By the way you do know that it's a 12" x 5" snare? The wires will probably need replacing as well as they seem to rattle over the entire audio spectrum :D

Yeah that's fine. As long as you don't want too much for it(I'm skint too) I'll probably take it.

That's me all out of X-Qs! :D If people want them, i will order them again, and maybe a couple X-Ms. I have 4 of the discontinued flat X-Ts, and 2 X-Ss left(2 of each are going to SoS soon, i think) and 2 MSH2s. Once I'm down to just a couple mics, i will consider a new order.
