NADY products???

Has anyone used any NADY products, specifically their 8 channel preamp??? If so what are your thoughts on it??

Let's put it this way.

Behringers are good enough that everyone knows them, some people buy them, and few people like them

Nady are bad enough that few people buy them and nobody likes them

I'm only half way serious, but you will never hear anyone on this board recommend a nady.

I have 2 Nady....

I have 2 Nady Rackmount PCL-800 Power Conditioners.
They work.
Not very sturdy.
They dont like wall-warts either.
Too heavy.

Let me put it this way, I bought 2 nady mics...they don't work, 2 nady power amps...had to return 1 immediately...and now the other is flaking out on me, after the warranty expired. I'm not a nady fan. Behringer is cheap, but at least it works. Good for beginners who will be able to upgrade if they get really serious. Nady , Behringer , Mindprint and Avalon Design I do have a Presonus Digimax LT that i'm quite satisfied with for multi channel project. It's a little expensive and you will need a soundcard with ADAT light pipe to avoid running 8 cables to your mixer.

Ha, Nady is cheap, period. I bought their 8 channel preamp thinking it was a great deal. WRONG!!!!!! It was the noisiest piece of shit I've ever used. I sent it back the next day. Just don't waste your time with cheap crap like that. AT LEAST some of berhingers stuff is quiet enough to record with.

hey thanks guys!!!! i figured i'd take my time and do research. also the more time it takes me to research products, the more money i'll save up. then i'll be in a different price range with higher quality. it's becoming quite apparent that with "most" music gear, you get what you pay for. if you buy a $100 preamp, that's what you'll get.

i see it this way, if i pay a hundred bucks for a piece of equipment. and find that i don't miss the hundred bucks, then i obviously won't miss the equipment if it's crap. i honestly think manufacturers think the same way. the "eh, it's only a hundred bucks, they won't miss it if it's crap" mentallity. but on the other hand if i spend $400 - $600 on a piece of equipment, it damn well better be good, and surpass it's warranty by a long shot.

Nady is one of those companies where if you aren't willing to evaluate each product on an individual basis, you should probably avoid the whole lot. Their ribbon mic is great for the price, IMHO. Some of their other mics are decent, though I probably wouldn't use the word "good". The CM-90s, maybe....

Their wireless stuff always seemed like cheap crap to me. I tried using a pair of their wireless receivers together in a backpack for a remote shoot once. I found out that their receiver circuitry was so electrically noisy that I couldn't use both at the same time without moving them physically about three feet apart.

And their MST-5B may possibly be the worst microphone stand ever built. I should know---I have two of them---the one that I bought and the one that the company sent me as a replacement when the first one arrived with several broken plastic parts right out of the box. A little superglue, and I got a free stand out of the deal, and at what ended up being about $12 apiece (not counting the cost of the glue), it wasn't a horrible deal, but still somewhat overpriced, IMHO....

I'd probably go so far as to say that just about anything they build with a significant circuit component is probably somewhere between "okay" and "junk". Likewise for anything mechanical. Hmm. I guess basically they only make good products if there's no possible way for their cost-cutting on a particular design to result in a bad product....
