I need some help here. I just recorded 12 tracks. I am going to mix them now but n-track will only play the first 7-9 seconds and then stop. If I advance to another part of the song I get about 2 seconds play time and then it stops again. I am wondering if I have to many plugins running, I have about 7 spread out through the 12 tracks. Should I mix the vocals then mix it down to one track and proceed that way? Another problem I have is that sometimes some of my tracks won't play. The VU meter goes up and down put there is no sound. Any sugguestions to these problems would be appreciated.

Hello, Sir Plett

If you have a basic computer set-up (64-96 mb ram, 433 khz,
Pentium II or AMD K-6) odds are you are pushing your system into freezing.

Unless you have a 40 mg. hard drive, 128 or more ram, and at least a Pentium III or AMD Athlon, you will need to mix those down first.

I have a Duron 600 with 128 mb ram. However yesterday I was using my friends 256 dimm so I was at 384 mb ram and it still hick-uped a bit. But he has since reclaimed his dimm so I was wondering...how do you sugguest that I mix down some tracks. I have one guitar, 2 harmonica, two 12 string guitar tracks (which I will remove because they sound terrible) and 4 vocal tracks. Should I put the guitar and the harmonica tracks together or should I put the vocal tracks together?

sae, ya just shot all my hopes to hell!
I've been having the same problems with a Plll 700, 256megs, and a 13gb 5400 drive.
I had hoped that an upgrade to 7200 would solve the problem.
I guess the new mic's will have to wait while I build a new box with an atholon and 7200rpm drive. Or should I be thinking SCSI at 10,000rpm?
What gets me, is that before I swapped a Blaster Live and Power Tracks Pro for a Darla24 and Ntrack, I didn't have a problem. Sound quality wasn't as good, but 12 tracks played without a hitch.
I'm starting to question my Darla research and purchase. No midi support, weak interface, and no on-board horsepower.
Maybe I need to look at a card with on-board processor(?).
