Hello I'm having problems w/ the card, volume of the equipment connected to the card inputs is too soft,i know there's gain switches on the card. defaul setting is +24 db, is that the loudest setting or +4dbv is the laudest? how do you adjust the gain (peak) on the card inputs if there's only 8 knobs on the front panel of the AW4416. any help will be appreciated
thanks
marco

+4 is the loudest. You cannot adjust the levels using the preamp controls (since the preamp does not go to this card.) It is reccommended you use a preamp to go into this card...

thanks for youre info burgundyband, but what do you mean by preamp for the card? how does that work?

The inputs on that card are not connected to the internal preamps on the yamaha 4416. Preamps bring the mic level up to the volume of line level, thus making it louder. The only way to get a good level using those inputs is to purchase an external preamp. An economical choice is the Midiman AudioBuddy, which sells for about $79 and has 2 channels.

Thanks again for you're help steve, I did set those gain switches to +4dbv like you suggested and know everything's working fine. i guess i would only need that preamp if i want to connect mics.is that right?

The inputs should be fine for line sources like a keyboard or sound module, but if you use a microphone, you will need an external preamp.
