Here's a band I recorded this weekend. It was done live other than the vox and a couple of overdubs. Got to try out my new UA 710. I think it's nice especially with an SM7

Nice job by the band...solid ideas and playing.

The only thing I heard...listening in stereo w/ phones, then monitors, was that the wings [guits] were overpowering the center. There was a lack of push on everything CTR...I think, cuz it was buried.

That's where I'd go first. It's hard to hear if anything else needs tweaks...like the kit, for example, cuz it's ...hard to hear in fullness. The blend favors the wings. After that, I coiuld prolly judge the mesh n' stuff: the kit might be just fine as it is.

I reckon that the mix sounds righter in mono...that wierd virtual level-boost that happens on far-panned stuff?

Not a fan of the snare. Sounds like only the bottom head is mic'd. The whole kit sounds kind of mushy. The rest sounds okay.

I was actually noticing that too. I wasn't sure what the correct word was, so I'll defer to Greg_L's expertise and go with "mushy."

The bass isn't particularly clear either. It works OK on a sparse arrangement like this, but it could be better.

I really like the song itself. That is a catchy song.

The different parts on the guitar solo sound good.
