A while back before I bought my POD I was on this forum asking about how it holds up live and how well it works with the footswitch, I got some helpful answers but I guess I didn't really get it.
I tried my POD playing thru a Marshall amp with a band today for the first time, using the FB4 footswitch.
It sounded surprisingly good. Every time I try this thing in a new configuration/situation I always end up pleasently surprised with its sound.
The one setback was the channel switching. It does dropout when you switch between presets. The dropout was similar to that of a Digitech GSP2101 I used to have. Maybe a little worse (slower/longer dropout time). There will be a second of silence when switching from one preset to the next. This can be a problem. You have to be careful and be sure to step on the button at just the right time (which is *before* the time when you need the preset to be changed. This is difficult because it requires you to step on the button 'off-beat'), or else that second of silence will sound like a mistake.
I don't know if they have corrected this in the newer versions of POD, but they should.
Bottom line: I will use this live because the sounds are good and because I have no other effects unit to use except a crappy Boss Metal Zone (which I can't stand), but the dropouts are annoying. So, if you're thinking about buying the POD this is something to consider when asked if you want the footswitch.
