Hi my plan currently is to release a 13-song album with 3 music videos on youtube. Once my album is completed, what should I do? Should i sell it online and also what are some good sites to sell albums on? (im a rapper that mixes rap with rock and dubstep) Thanks.
 
I'd put it on iTunes with something like CDBaby. It's cheap enough to do and will make it easier for people to find your album. I'd then do some stuff to promote your album -- book some gigs, make some more videos on YouTube... do what ever you think will get you noticed!

I'm gonna have to disagree with this.

If things get on a larger scale you'll more than likely need a manager, but I for one suggest doing your own publishing.

If the music sells and gets recognition, your own publishing = more money.

The problem is getting management. It can be a bit of a Catch 22 situation. Management want to know who you are before they'll listen to you. Yet, it's difficult to get noticed beyond a certain point without management.
It can be frustrating.
 
You must either create a viral Youtube video or spend time pounding the pavement to get gigs and a following. Oh yeah - if you're not cute like Beiber forget it....
 
Make really, really good music. Get as many people as possible to listen to it. Do both of these things and you won't have a problem. Nobody wants to listen? You music probably isn't that good. Keep practicing, keep getting better, dig in for the long haul, do the work to get really fucking good, and people will take notice.

Don't worry about management until there's something to manage (as in, lots of fans, tours, and cash). Don't try hiring employees until you have a viable business.
 
Its cool too have your music on itunes etc. but remember that you dont really get any money unless you sell alot!So you should also print up a some hardcopies to sell!
 
Ok so my plan from now on is to release a 13 song album & make my music really good by constantly practicing. Also play lives shows & hand out free CD's. Thanks guys
