YESSSSSSSSS

FINALLY....My very own place in this big world.

After 3 months of searching...I finally have my own room.
(I'm a composition & music production student at the Utrecht School for the Arts http://english.hku.nl/hku/show/id=60102)
Better yet... 2 rooms! A bedroom, and a living/whatever room.
I'm using the smaller one as a bedroom, and the bigger one as a studio.

So the room is about 3,4x4,2x2,5 meters.... that's 11'x14'x8'.

I'm loving it....BUT I wanna do this right, and treat the room properly.

As far as materials go... everything is plain wall, or sauced I believe... The chimney is a brick one, and has a ledge to put stuff on.

The couch comes with the room, and is a pretty heavy 2-seater.
The window will have curtains and horizontal blinds.

I can drill holes, as long as I keep it reasonable...and there's still stuff like Tesa Powerstrips etc :-)

I'm kinda concerned about the corners, since I can't place anything in the bottom-right corner with that door in the way... and having the chimney close to that corner and all... I'm afraid bass might build up there.

As for the picture: it's not scaled (I'm a total retard when it comes to graphics), but I've tried to keep stuff the right size.

the records will be in a big bookcase style, but could also end up under my "misc" stuff on the left (sampler, turntable etc)

My keyboards will be on a stand.

The "mixing desk & misc" will comprise of a desk containing my mixer and outboard.

Enough bla bla about the gear, I've just given it a place in the picture so you guys can see what my layout is gonna be like.

So..any good suggestions on basstrapping, diffusing, etc etc for my particular room?

Thank you very much in advance

The term 'bass builds up in the corners' is not strictly true. Bass builds up between the corners. In other words a standing wave gets set up in the air in the room and because the longest distance is between diagonally opposite corners that is where the lowest standing waves occur. So if you are in a situation where one corner is impractical to treat make up for it by being sure to treat the opposite corner.

So... what excactly would be a solution for that?

yeah yeah... I know about traps, absorbers, diffusers and what not but I want some advice on WHERE to put WHAT in my particular room...

please help me out people, I really wanna do this right!
